Hey Surfhouse Family 🤙

May has been an absolute treat here on the South Coast. As autumn settled in, Umzumbe delivered the kind of conditions we dream about - clean waters, glassy mornings, and long, playful lines rolling through almost daily. The ocean has been crystal clear, making for perfect diving sessions between surfs, with plenty of sea life showing off beneath the surface.

The energy around the house this month has been something special. Days started with coffee and early paddles, followed by sun-soaked afternoons, barefoot chats on the deck, and evenings that stretched long into the night. Some of the highlights? Fresh fish and crayfish braais after surf sessions, shared stories around the table, and unforgettable bonfire nights under clear winter skies.

Looking Ahead to June

There’s been a beautiful rhythm to life lately - surf, ocean, food, laughter, repeat. Whether guests came for a weekend reset or stayed a little longer to soak up the slower pace, May reminded us why this corner of the coast feels like home. As we head into the cooler months, we’re excited to keep the creativity and community flowing with a few special gatherings coming up at the house.

Black & White Wave Paint Workshop

We’re thrilled to host a unique Black & White Wave Paint Workshop with Radmer Lenasch on the 18th of June. Expect an inspiring morning of art, ocean energy, and creative expression as we explore wave movement and monochrome textures on canvas. Whether you’re an experienced artist or simply curious to try something new, this workshop is all about connecting with the sea in a different way.

Surf & Yoga Retreat

Looking a little further ahead, we’re also preparing for a beautiful Surf and Yoga from 3–5 July with Marrion Clarke. This retreat will combine mindful movement, ocean therapy, nourishing meals, and plenty of time in the water.
