We’ve had some incredible company out in the line-up lately with the real locals — and not just from fellow surfers: The ocean has been alive with dolphins riding the waves right alongside us, often appearing in the early mornings when the light is golden and the sea glassy. The whales have officially arrived too, breaching and tail-slapping just offshore in a breathtaking display that never gets old. Some of our guests have even spotted some rays in the crystal clear water. And as always, our favorite regular is here: the resident turtle, occasionally popping up during a paddle-out as if to check in. It’s been a beautiful reminder that we’re sharing this coastline with some truly special locals.

Just last week, the Surfhouse celebrated International Day of Yoga and Surf with a beautiful community gathering that captured everything we love about this place: A sunrise surf, yoga overlooking the waves, a bonfire and braai with drinks shared in great company, all wrapped in the kind of good vibes that linger long after. Whether you're drawn by the rhythm of the ocean, the grounding calm of morning yoga, or the simple joy of gathering around a fire under the stars, Umzumbe Surfhouse offers the perfect base for a soulful, stoked escape along South Africa’s vibrant South Coast.

We still have availability for the upcoming school holidays in our spacious Main House, which sleeps up to 14 guests across two private double rooms and two comfortable dorm-style rooms — perfect for families, groups of friends, or surf squads. With a fully equipped kitchen, a relaxed lounge area, and a big deck with a treehouse for surf checks, ocean-gazing and sunrise sessions. The best part is… you’re literally right on the beach. Wake up to the sound of waves, grab your board, and be in the water within minutes — no walking shoes required.

Book now while dates are still open!

The Surfhouse has been buzzing with energy lately — mornings filled with surf sessions by our expert local coach, afternoons spent relaxing in the beach garden, yoga flows, fishing, or playing games, and evenings warmed by beachside braais and bonfires. It’s a place where guests connect with the ocean, nature, and each other, creating a true sense of community. Perfect for families and friends looking to unwind, explore, and enjoy the stunning beachfront setting this school holiday season.

With love & salty hair,
